Seems like the federation was turned on not long ago. It’s very exciting to be part of kbin’s growth!
Not quite. Kbin is still suffering with syncing issues and many posts/comments from lemmy aren’t showing. I’ll be chilling in lemmy.world until things get back up to speed here.
idk how you were able to create an account on lemmy.world. I gave up attempting to get an account on lemmy.world and beehaw. Both just sit there and spin for days.
Check your email for verification, my registration just spun but I did get the email
Yup I finally managed to get registered, and the first post I comment on gets swarmed by a bunch of tankies defending the CCP… So yea I think I’ma just stay hanging out here instead.
How do I see content from elsewhere? Do I need to change a setting?
I didn’t set anything to be able to see it, rather I noticed on the right part of the screen in the “related magazines” something from beehaw. The content searching UI still needs improvements thought.
How do I recognize content coming from other instances? Is there a visible link or something?
I clicked on something from beehaw and it had the @beehaw ending.
Are kbin and Lemmy completely different things? Is it possible to see Lemmy posts on here?
They are different, but share an underlying connection with the Fediverse, so you can see/interact with stuff from Lemmy/Mastadon/etc…
@Ernest is also actively trying to make sure KBin is as compatible with possible with the Fediverse projects
Do you happen to know why I can not access many explicitly German Lemmy communities? I only could contribute there once I set German as my language on @Semmelstulle. Before that it was like I was blocked.
Are they on instances that are not federated with Kbin?
They aren’t. I can normally use some communities of feddit.de but some (eg [email protected]) can’t even be found by kbin
That’s findable by search now! Since Ernest removed CloudFlare, Federation is getting a lot more interesting!
