As far as I can see, the real number is already on top of the post. And then you have the split of up/downvotes near the arrows. So the “algorithm” is just basic addidion and subtraction. Someone correct me if I saw something wrong…

They took my RiF. The CEO seems like an absolute bastard. It got more and more toxic over the years. I can take some abuse but this was a bit too much. If it continues to be popular I’ll use it for information gathering just like always, but they wont get any content, interaction or ad revenue from me.
This blackout thing, while surely sending a message, will be pointless in the end imo. The bosses have decided how they want to proceed and that’s that.
Yes it is! Exciting to discover it.
I was never really interested in twitter or similar services, so I pass on Mastodon.
Heck, I might even quit the lurkin’ life if the trend stays that positive hehe.
It all reminds me a bit of the good old times of early reddit. People who are ready for conversation, relatively few trolling (and worse) and just a community or rather communities in the truest sense of the word.
But also I dont know how it is from a mods perspective.
I am enjoying it so far. I usually tend to lurk but the community is, as many have said, very welcoming and it creates an atmosphere where it encourages you to contribute (not just with up/downvotes but also comments).
I’ve got my politics, I’ve got my world news, techstuff, gaming & memes. I’d like to see picture subs like earthporn more populated. They’re currently pretty empty. Also missing content in my regional Austria sub but that will solve itself if the reddit exodus continues.
In all seriousness: I am trying. Hard to break the habit of lurking. But on the other hand I’ll often upvote something, so thats engagement right there :-)
edit: also since someone said “less memes” - I’d recommend you this watch on the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
If you want me to comment, there will be SOME memes. Heck, look at OP’s handle, how did you expect me NOT to do it? :O
It’s a learning process. There is definetly a mild learning curve as to how things work here compared to traditional social media platforms. But maybe that’s even a good thing as to pre-filter certain audiences.
So far the interaction possibilities seem very satisfying, community seems friendlier than current reddit (maybe that’s just the size of the userbase) and there is already enough, I’d call it “base content” as to be a reasonable alternative to reddit. - Which is why I created an account here.
I especially like the threaded, color coded conversation view. Makes it really discernable who responded to whom. I also like the UI very much. Clear and easy to navigate. Only critique here: There is kind of a lot of wasted screenspace on both sides on a 4k resolution.
I think shortcuts for common mouseclicks and formatting like in RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite) would go a long way here too.
Well thats my 2c.
Even the AMA announcement is at “0” (so probably in the thousands negative, didnt check). I’ll also check in with some popcorn. =)
I still find the fact somewhat bewildering. The gaming industry is literally the only industry that I can think of that can get away with pissing their customers right in the face with anti-consumer ethics. Somehow noone seems to care here. Other entertainment industries seems to have to be mindful with PR, gaming industry somehow doesnt. No matter how big the scandal, gamers seem to easily forget or just dont care. And I fear its mostly the latter.
Not surprising when you consider just the name alone. And it probably attracts casual ARPG gamers more than the competiton due to its ease of access. I’ve seen a couple of streams and I am unimpressed, to say the least. D3 Reskin basically, thrown in the aspect system to simulate complexity and some mmo elements. Poor build variety when it comes to endgame viability. Same as D3, just prettier. Just doesn’t do it for me when PoE and Last Epoch exist. And I’ve not even started about not especially cheap MTX in a 70€ game, complete with battlepass and every psychological trick in the book to milk players even more. “Shameful shiat.”
That’s a good thing in my opinion, although it probably won’t accomplish anything. But it’s also a good time to abandon the sinking ship and try out new things - hey lemmy :-)
Most definetly. Could also be a technical necessity if they got spammed hard (as they should).
