That’s…odd.
But then again smart phones weren’t a thing when I was in school so most of this kinda stuff seems odd to me. I’m with the other guy, I’m glad I never had to deal with any nonsense resembling this.

My comment was supposed to be kind of wink wink tongue in cheek in tone, I’m sure that didn’t come across.
I’m sorry for poking at fresh wounds. I lost my best friend too, many years ago. He was only 21, but there’s no such thing as “old enough” because life is too short. And there’s not enough time in this life to truly move on from something like that. There’s nothing else I can say, I just hope you’re doing well bud
Jeff Buckley, no question. He released arguably the best album of the 90s (Grace) then went and fucking drowned. Only 30 years old. He coulda been one of the best to ever do it, but we’re left wondering.
As someone who is the stupid party stoner friend to a big friend group of (mostly) tech bros, this list is pretty hilarious to read from the other side.
Also fuck you for saying I’m gonna die young.
I agree that Meryl Streep was absolutely perfect, as she always is. I was speaking on the casting for the TV show. I didn’t hate her or anything I just thought she coulda been better
The casting for the movie was incredible, they really set themselves up for a great trilogy and it’s a shame there was only one movie. The show is a magnificent achievement in tone and design but some of the casting choices left a bit to be desired. Off the top of my head I wasn’t too fond of Sir, Josephine, or Nero. But gotta give them some credit, Jacques and Esme in particular were perfect imo. I also loved Jerome but I have the biggest crush on Tony Hale so I’m probably coming at that one with a bias 😂
Oh yeah, books first then the Netflix series afterwards. I think the show does a lot to expand the world of the books while not compromising its overall story and message. But you gotta read the books first.
Also has one of the better TV adaptations
The Tetris Effect by Dan Ackerman is a lot of fun, a pretty breezy read, and is fairly unbelievable for how true the story is. It involves (in varying amounts) programming, science, and DIY, mostly from an early-80s perspective (since a lot of it is about the development of the game), plus some corporate espionage and Soviet meddling.
I was only drinking a cup of coffee a day
Yaaaaaaawn. Let us know when you need an entire pot just to go to bed. No wonder you had such an easy time “quitting” lol
Well sugar doesn’t inebriate you so that’s not a fair comparison at all. You’re not gonna accidentally kill someone while driving under the influence of sugar.
Try Fern’s season! You don’t have to watch any of the seasons in order, they all exist in a vacuum. And it’s all on YouTube! I say give S14 E1 a shot and see how you like it :)
Loved her on Taskmaster. “Have I met these potatoes before?!”
Between herself, John Kearns, and Munya, that season was a goldmine for ‘comedians I had never heard of before and ended up loving’.
Non-US people have such an hilariously skewed view of the US healthcare system
My ex told me people didn’t like me because I shared my thoughts too much, and I just got feedback from my boss about the same thing
Often times when this criticism is brought up it’s not the fact that you’re simply sharing your thoughts, but rather the thoughts themselves that you’re sharing. If your opinions are problematic then obviously people won’t want to hear them and won’t want to be around you. So if you don’t mind, could you share exactly what you said that made these people criticize you in this way?
And I apologize for being an asshole in response. I would say that I hadn’t had my morning coffee yet but I’ve been trying to hold myself more accountable so instead I’ll blame my overall addiction to caffeine
the vast VAST majority of average internet users are basically brain dead and want maximum convinence at any cost, including privacy and being treated right by the service as a user. They quite simply don’t care what happens as long as they can still get their garbage content drip fed to them without any work, learning, or inconvinece on their part.
If you don’t want to be called pretentious then maybe you shouldn’t spout pretentious nonsense like this
(I highlighted the pretentious parts)
I don’t have the technical knowledge to understand lemmy’s decentralized federated nonsense and I’ve been using it just fine. You think you need to understand how something works to use it? Or do you think idiots like me are too scared to use something we don’t understand? Because I’m saying you’re wrong on both counts. And if you don’t like average idiots like me taking over your beloved platform then maybe you should just suck it up because I’m not going anywhere, and if this site continues to grow then pretty soon the average user will be a lot more like me than like you.
Comments like this are exactly why people aren’t gonna wanna join Lemmy.
For reference: I’m one of the brain dead convenience seeking idiots you’re describing. Lemmy isn’t that hard to understand. What sucks about Lemmy is pretentious users like you treating it like something it isn’t when in reality it’s just another in a long list of average to middling message boards.
Also, you don’t have to take the cat out back and shoot him when he bites your nephew’s face
