Used to buy on GOG because DRM free, but grew to dislike proprietary games altogether. Didn’t want to be shackled to x86 anymore.

I genuinely thought it was slang for Mullvad. Thanks, I stand corrected.
Tor Browser that is configured to use a VPN as it’s networking layer rather than the Tor network.
Also a good opportunity for them to catch a few sales for their own particular VPN service.
And if you don’t really care for VPNs, it is Firefox with the Arkenfox user.js template applied, in addition to some compile time flags disabling things like Mozilla’s telemetry reporting (even though this is already disabled by the user.js template).
You just need to know what to look for. Ancient hardware isn’t the only option.
Another entry among the list of “Weird things that can happen when you give the state power to decide life or death of its citizens”.
There was once a time where I’d be ecstatic to advise on a post like this.
But these days I just feel like an alien or somebody who just stepped out of a time capsule.
Good luck on your search, but I wouldn’t touch any of that stuff. Sorry about the totally unhelpful reply.
We should start writing epitaphs for the 99% who will SURELY die from this DEADLIEST PANDEMIC IN HUMAN HISTORY. Run for the hills, guys!
Hit a nerve? I stand by my assertion that “tech in education” initiatives by predatory vendors is akin to grooming children. Get them to speak the language of your product early, so that they’ll be a customer for life. IIRC the term is called “Cradle to grave marketing”[1] [2]. Leverage imprinting along the way for good measure. I get why the Googles and the Microsofts of the world are so eager to get their products into schools. That doesn’t mean that I agree with it.
The worst part about this IMO is the school system teaching digital dependency on proprietary software vendors.
Big tech salivates at the thought of being a child’s “first”… much like other kinds of child groomers.
Was at a red light with a cop behind me. Some guy rolls up behind them, braking just late enough that the front bumper of his car love taps the rear bumper of the squad car.
Both officers immediately jump out and open fire on the poor guy. He was hosed after a couple of rounds. The cops just casually get back in and drive off like it was nothing.
This was in Los Santos btw.
It is weird to observe younger generations using search engines with how they treat them as some sort of fully natural language processing butlers.
Where you or I might formulate a query as: “films famous within Italy” or simply “famous Italian films”
Gen alpha will generally conduct that same search as: “What are the movies that are most famous in Italy?”
I’ve downloaded nearly everything I listen to from youtube. I forget what I even used to use before discovering youtube-dl.
It’s tempting to crank things up to 11 with virginity jokes. That one always gets the linux spaces roaring.
There is a Chinese expression: “The ugly wife is a treasure at home”
It is possible ugly can be substituted for dull (mentally).
If you totally unplugged from informational media, and went to live out your days engaging only in the things which bring you joy, would you be able to tell who the current sitting president was solely by indirect observation? People like to blame presidents for “the price at the pump” and other miniscule day-to-day things. But is there any substance to that?
I’m so glad I grew up when I did and got to experience video games before they began injecting overt political messaging into games.
The New Yorker launched a redesigned home page in late 2023, having reached a similar conclusion.
Oh boy let’s check it out.
newyorker.com attempts to load js and frames from eight third party domains. Among them;
“conde.digital” – I am assuming that means conde as in conde nast AKA reddit DNA… and we all know what happens to anything reddit touches.
“condenast.digital” above confirmed. I can almost feel the bile welling in my throat.
“cookielaw.org” - probably to serve cookie consent notices to the plebs who fail to block cookies and other trash.
“doubleclick.net” - known malware
“googletagmanager.com” - so that google can keep track of all their cattle.
And yet all of their articles are perfectly readable in plain HTML formatting, as expected. Not that I would ever spend any time reading articles from whatever this place is.
Block both javascript and CSS. Most of those nags are implemented via some combination of the two.

Dystopia is real
Only a few more steps until “Google Government”
Individuals should have full autonomy over their bodies, including to abort. However, the practice itself is a very sad decision for individuals to make and should be discouraged where possible.
Maybe that’s just slightly left of center
