Can users from Lemmy instances see/interact with Magazines from kbin? If so, what is the proper way to search for one on another instance so it is “discovered”? I can foresee a problem with the same or very similar community being created across several Lemmy instances, all competing for engagement. What’s the best way to solve this?

I’m on lemmy, I don’t understand the point of kbins existence, rust seems like a much better tech to use than php, what’s the point?

Kbin intends to be a middle ground between federated Reddit and Tumblr. It provides an interface DESIGNED around both link aggregation (Reddit/Lemmy) and microblogging (Twitter/Mastodon).

The point of it’s existence is that someone saw an opportunity to make something they thought would be cool or useful, and so they did. Evidently, by the influx of users and content for the platform and the amount of people that interact with Lemmy and Mastodon through KBin, lots of other people do too.

You don’t need to disparage it’s existence just because you don’t want to use it. 🙂

@communist Not sure honestly, the whole platform (kbin/lemmy) is definitely too confusing for the general public to figure out… But maybe that’s for the better? All I know is kbin was much easier to join (I tried several lemmy instances several times and just got stuck on the spinning signup wheel every time) Also, the kbin interface/layout seems a bit nicer than the lemmy default that many instances are using.
