minus-squarePlayer2@lemm.eelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up22·edit-24 months agoSupports downloading a server transcoded file? That’s amazing! Would like to see an Fdroid version
minus-squarezoey@lemmy.blahaj.zonelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up13arrow-down1·4 months agoYou can just use Obtainium with the gh releases link
minus-squareSemperverus@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·4 months agoI too would rather have an F-droid version instead of having to use Obtainium. There is additional inherent trust by going through F-droid’s process.
minus-squareEskuero@lemmy.fromshado.wslinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up9·4 months agoFrom what I understand its still restrained by the server in real time so downloading a 2 hour movie would still take two hours 🥲
minus-squareDaGeek247@fedia.iolinkfedilinkarrow-up2·4 months agoIs this a bug, or is it actually just limited to the transcode speed? I would love to read the incident/bug report about this.
minus-squareentropicdrift@lemmy.sdf.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·4 months agoIt’s limited to the transcode speed, but it’s important to keep in mind that e.g. if you transcode to a lower resolution especially it’ll usually transcode faster than realtime.
minus-squareAuli@lemmy.calinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·4 months agoThen it shouldn’t be limited. I can transcode a movie faster then I watch it even at higher quality.
minus-squareentropicdrift@lemmy.sdf.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·edit-24 months agoRight, I just mean if your connection speed is faster than your server can transcode, then the transcode speed will be the bottleneck
minus-squareentropicdrift@lemmy.sdf.orglinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up7·4 months agoFYI Jellyflix also supports that
minus-squareChewy@discuss.tchncs.deOPlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4·4 months agoTranscoding and transcoded downloads does not seem to be merged yet, altough there’s a working PR. https://github.com/jarnedemeulemeester/findroid/pull/791

Findroid also recently added this
