    I never did understand that phase on Facebook. 450 people have just been killed in a suspected terrorist attack.

    Oh, oh that’s awful! Let me jus… Perfect. Phew, profile pic updated, that puts an end to that.

      I would argue that it accomplishes just as much as changing your profile picture pitch black or adding a rainbow. It’s purely symbolic and risks absolutely nothing for people whose lives are truly oppressed.

      My friend complains about this stuff and you know, the “woke mindvirus” but I’m always thinking that it’s the minimum you can do without rocking the boat. It’s easier to pretend to care and accept the validation of false compassion than to actually demand change.
