Usually not. I was in the same situation and had to register a company in the EU. That way I pay my own taxes, insurance and pension contributions. If you do that, make sure to calculate the extra cost for insurance/taxes and raise your rates accordingly.

Definitely watch that one if you are into food or cooking, it’s a classic!

Dinner in America (2020) I liked a lot

The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. It’s terrible and fascinating at the same time. What I took away from it is that there is an inherent value in things you build yourself and a moral right to own your creations. I know the book is flawed in many ways, but I still think it’s an interesting read. Wouldn’t exactly call it my bible, but I don’t think any book fits that description.

I don’t see how the gameplay helps with the programming tasks, and I don’t see how the programming tasks enhance the gameplay. Let’s assume the game is already finished, I think the game part would be improved by replacing the programming part with a simpler, more rewarding mechanic. And the programming part could be improved by getting rid of the gameplay, as it would remove distractions. Pulling off educational games that people actually want to play is notoriously hard because of conflicting goals. IMO you should aim for a more integrated experience with in-game “coding” and direct feedback.

What? I’m never sure about anything these days. I just feel “I’ve always wanted to try this restaurant, would you be interested” is better than “I have to confess something … I’m totally attracted to you” That being said I’m in a committed relationship right now and it started with just spending time together naturally.

Because there are so many easier, safer, less awkward ways to check if someone likes me back or not. And if it turns out they do, I don’t need to confess anything, I just set up dates, or do nice things for them and see where that takes us.

I cook dried beans a lot and have to say the canned beans are different. Dried beans often split during soaking and the shells are harder. I think for canning they cook the fresh beans directly. About the pressure cooker, I’ve done this too but found that at least for me the beans are more easily digestible when you cook them slowly and for a longer period of time.

If you end up hating your job just keep looking and find a different company or position. Job satisfaction is so many factors, e.g. how well you get along with your coworkers, how much recognition you get from the higher ups for what you do and so on. The career path you choose now might not affect the outcome that much.

For me it helps to plan ahead and assign tasks to the upcoming days/weeks. It shows me that not everything needs to be done at once, and clears my mind when I’m overwhelmed with too many things on my todo list.

I’ve watched like 10 minutes and I hate it. Peter Singer is a very controversial figure as it is, on top of that the guy in the video comes off as super condescending to me and I can’t stand watching him for longer. Me personally, I don’t think it’s “immoral” to not give money to charity. And terms like immoral or evil are usually defined by the society you live in and not some random philosopher. And I bet there are good reasons his radical ideas in “Famine, Affluence, and Morality” did not get embedded in our society yet.
