This is effectively saying, “This article is correct but for the wrong reasons”. People aren’t angry about why hundreds of migrants dying isn’t newsworthy. They’re angry that it’s not newsworthy.
I’m frankly surprised that not enough people find it disgusting that the EU passively killing hundreds of refugees is less interesting because the EU does so regularly.
Hey! You can also post this to [email protected] if you fancy :)
49 rapes by ONE cop. Never forget.
I want to say this makes me happy but who am I kidding, the Met’s obviously saying this to justify demanding more police funding.
I believe it can but don’t take my word for it
Great. I don’t know enough to use either but I think I’m going to try lean on podman from the get go. In any case, I know that all podman commands are exactly identical to Docker, such that you can replace, say, docker compose
with podman compose
and move on with ease.
I stand corrected!
In terms of functionality, I’d love to have a search feature such that I can search for individual posts matching my search query. I don’t think we can do that currently.
Does the federated structure make this difficult/impossible though?
Do you think Podman is ready to take over Docker? My understanding is that Podman is Docker without the root requirement.
Judging by the thread over on their GitHub, I don’t know if they’ll actually close down in 7 days. Let’s see.
Does this only work from a browser, or can one do it via the apps e.g. Jerboa, as well?
The basic mistake I see us all make is assume that Spez has any emotional attachment to Reddit (let alone anything close to how attached we are to it). He doesn’t.
Once you realize that he’s 100% in it for the money and is utterly uncaring about Reddit’s users (i.e. you), you’ll realize that he couldn’t give less of a shit about actually addressing our concerns.
This will also make you immune to any PR sanitising lies him and his team spout, as all such lies hinge on your willingness to give him some benefit of the doubt. We shouldn’t.
The West Coast of the US has some of the breathtaking places: Moro Rock, Mt Shasta, Sequoia National Park, Lassen National Park, just to name a few. If you ever visit the US, skip the fancy stuff and explore the nature!
Hey I LOVE this idea! I had it myself but I can’t code for nuts, so glad to see someone else trying it out.
Question: how can we follow your progress? Are you thinking of creating a dedicated community/website to share updates? If one already exists then do let me know, I’d love to stay connected.
EDIT: As for copyright/concerns…if the goal is to preserve information, then maybe you have some way to pseudonymise usernames as part of the script. Or even remove usernames completely, as we’re focusing on the comments.
I prefer pseudonymising, as you can replace real usernames with fake ones, so that it’s still possibly to follow who’s replying to whom within the context of a comment thread.
Damn, and they’ve got Mao and Fidel on their profiles hahaha. Wild.
It’s such a shame, I was just getting used to Lemmy and staying to encourage others to join up.
For now I suppose I’ll still keep at it, just because I do see some good instances worth engaging outside lemmy.ml. in fact, I’ve barely engaged with lemmy.ml at all, I’ve mostly been into slrpnk.net. Totally recommend checking it out.
Oh geez wow, thanks for sharing. Ah crap, what a shame. Here I was just getting comfortable with Lemmy.
I’m gonna be an optimist and hope that other communities get enough traction to eclipse lemmy.ml, as this month progresses. Judging from what I’ve seen from the devs’ comments so far, they say they don’t care if someone just makes a new instance and runs communities there.
Then again, I feel like if they’re MLs, you never know if they’ll try and actively stop other instances from overtaking lemmy.ml if it comes to that. But I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt – for now, anyway, haha.
slrpnk.net has some fantastic budding communities about living life more ecologically. Also some nice tech stuff – do give it a look!
