Just further proving my point that the political binary is the problem with this country.

I am pro-union, pro-LGBT+ rights, pro-human rights, pro-choice, believe in knowing your rights when dealing with the police, pro-marijuana, and not religious.

But the fucking moment I mention that I don’t like Biden or the way they handled the pandemic, suddenly all you assholes shut down and argue as if I’m a fucking Trump supporter. Fuck off with that bullshit. Vote Blue No Matter Who is a fucking cult just like Trumpism is.

ETA: I’m fucking glad Trump is being indicted because I’m fed up with him and his cult. I’m hoping they throw the fucking book at him.

  • By default, your instance will only know about communities on that instance and communities that users of that instance have intentionally subscribed to. Unfortunately, this causes problems for users of smaller instances unless the instance admins are running a federation helper bot, which basically scans remote instances for communities and adds them to the instance.

I found this out the hard way when I first tried Lemmy, since I picked a tiny instance due to the larger ones being overloaded in June. I had a hell of a time trying to subscribe to the communities for the new Lemmy apps I was trying out. I kept getting Community Not Found errors until I refreshed the page multiple times until it eventually found the community.

  • Lemmy has been a good enough replacement for Reddit that I haven’t gone back to Reddit, especially since Voyager is a near-perfect replacement for Apollo, and the other apps I’ve tried are great in their own way, and enough people came here that I get my fill of shitposts and technical content.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for The Site Formerly Known As Twitter. Mastodon just doesn’t cut it for me. I stay away from the political crap and don’t really care about celebrities, but the art community is still on X, especially Japanese artists. Mastodon seems to be mainly people who want to complain about Elon, people who complain about conservatives, and people who want to live like it’s early 2020 for the rest of their lives.

It’s getting a little better with mastodon.art growing, and the third party apps are helping me get into it a little more, but it just isn’t there yet. Following hashtags helps a ton, so at least I get cats there.

Yeah, but I have nothing against Debian. At the time, my family was on dialup, so being able to order the entire apt repo on 7 CDs was very handy. Back then, the default kernel didn’t include sound drivers… fun times!

I recently returned to Debian (unstable) on my Linux laptop and it’s been nice.
