The emergency descent altitude is almost always 10,000 feet. This is because most people will be able to breath without the oxygen mask at this altitude. But, do not take off your mask.
They do not descend lower because, succinctly, what if all engine power is lost? If that happens then the pilots want enough altitude to have enough time to try and restart the engines and, failing engine restart, to extend gliding range in effort to maximize choices of where to land.

What this shitty battery charger is doing is repeatedly cycling the rechargeable battery. That decreases capacity. The consequences are far worse for cheaper nickel cadmium batteries (often paired with shitty battery chargers) than lithium ion batteries (often paired with chargers that turn off once the battery is charged).
There’s two solutions: Buy cheap and unplug it when it’s charged; Buy a nicer product that’ll do it for you.
Example: Walmart burner phone vs. basically anything else. Leave the burner plugged in overnight for a week and it’s dead because the battery chargers are trash.
All the companies that don’t care about this have much less costs. Thus the companies that don’t care about morality can offer lower prices
