That’s right, I have heard of some of these cases, but thank you very much for the info! I definitely didn’t want Sony to have any ground to stand on here, so happy that Valve is able to step up to protect consumers however they can.

That’s why I said I wasn’t sure and that I was asking for clarification?
Short answer: Yes.
Longer answer: The access hadn’t been removed yet, as the update that would enable account linking wasn’t pushed yet. As for the Steam side, I’m pretty sure people who already had the game installed should’ve had access still, although updates and general unsureness definitely could be obstacles. With this tweet, however, the update is no longer coming, and were just waiting for Sony/Valve to lift the selling/installing restrictions in those countries.
Would the publisher not have to request the game not be sold in those countries before Valve restricts the sale of it?
I believe that Valve may be the ones who do it, but just doing it without permission sounds… Illegal and out of their jurisdiction.
I know Valve controls their storefront and can absolutely pull games down, just looking for some clarification on whether this could be true or not.
Memes have become a sort of coping mechanism/method of communication, and it just reflects the the broader state of the world around them.
Places like Lemmy have becomes bastions for people to share their thoughts and opinions, because the overwhelming consensus is the acknowledgment of being helpless and this is a way to vent and share (what should be) obvious solutions to the problems we’re facing.
Sure, we go out and vote and talk to friends and family about the things we can do to make change, but we’re not in the class of people to make that change happen.
So I say fuck it, post away the neo-nilhism memes, I’ll upvote em and laugh away the enormous issues the world has.
It’s insane that a company can miss the point by this much…
Just make a good product, do everything you can to avoid fleecing your player base, and they will come. Then you can add microtransactions that people can buy. You gotta earn that shit through merit of a good game.
Yeah, but the conversation is about people being bale to afford it at all? Of course people who can afford it… Can afford it? That number is under 1% of the population, so it really shouldn’t be a thing.
I live in Canada, so…
Doesn’t have anything to do with $20k being absurd, but…
I actually can’t tell if you’re being serious or not…
Are you…?
Average salary in my city is ~$60k. $20k for a flight is ludicrous.
Definitely support this from the eco angle, but given how much you seem to use these bags (100 is a lot, but 6 years is a long time), do you not feel the $15/year is really not a big deal? Over that time, you’ve saved ~$75, which over 6 years… It’s not that much.
Not trying to discredit the method, I’m just curious as to what makes the method work for you!
Lmao to that. It almost as if the lies people have spread about how the system is supposed to work has gotten out of hand, so controlling it has become nigh impossible. No wonder the backlash to Gamestop went how it did.
And I know this will sound facetious (just trying to be helpful!), but the phrase “lazze fair” is spelled “laissez-faire”. It originated in 18th century France!
The reasons might be fine, but my opinion is that is whole thing is a little bit… Blown out of proportion.
Just on a couple of your points:
The other thing for me is that Discord is the messaging app I prefer, by a long shot. If they see this as an opportunity to add SMS linking to their feature set, and allow users to then also bridge those from the mobile to desktop version, it would solve a lot of communication issues I have, having everything in one place.
It’s a welcome change in my book.
Large corporations are, indeed, soulless and thankless. No amount of their pandering to the masses with charity campaigns and outreach programs ever end without them making money.
Knowing this, I prefer to take everything at face value. If I start concerning myself with the ulterior motives of these people that don’t believe in class equality, I will very quickly want to put a lightbulb in my mouth.
For those familiar, Destiny 2 (a video game by Bungie, the originators of the Halo franchise) has come under scrutiny lately due to mass layoffs, and the following PR nightmare it has turned into. With every day that passes, we learn more thanks to the diligent work of journalists doing their job.
I appreciate knowing to help me make informed decisions about who I fiscally support, but I will spend my money on entertainment based on the value it gives me. Not the morals I’m told I should have by people bickering on the internet, and content creators that use these situations as clickbait.
And that all goes for any corp, I’m just largely invested in this one example. I am aware that Nestle is garbage ass company, but due to me not existing in their world view, I will buy a KitKat when I want one, thanks.
Upper management in the hot seat, as usual. What did he do this time?
Witcher 3. Spoilers here, btw.
I will never forget riding my horse up to The Baron’s residence after losing his child and his wife and seeing him hanging from the tree. They do such a good job making his character barely tolerable at first, then make him slowly grow on you after you learn he’s just like you. Scared, confused, and lost. He lashes out because he’s trying to protect his family, but the weight of losing it is the end is too much for him.
Truly, what a masterclass in narrative design, and it’s only a sliver of what that game has to offer.
SIGH, BAPANADA.
That was me too! I guessed I had around 2k hours in RL overall, but Destiny 2 has recently just eclipsed 2k hours on just PC. Probably have 2500 in that game total now.
Right now. Mostly just cause my brain felt like flying off the rails. Can’t afford my meds right now, and yet we need $25k for our wedding still in 4 months, and we can’t seem to dig ourselves out of the financial hole I dug us into after leaving my last job for my mental health and be incomeless for 3 months. Fun stuff for sure.
