This ruling was made for trump.

Think of how much trump has done, legally, questionably legal, and illegal, while in office.

Now remove accountability for any of it while ignoring the virtually Sisyphean task already faced to prosecute what he’s (and those surrounding him have) already done, and we have yet to see any sufficiently deterrent sentence being passed.

Now also imagine the arguing over what constitutes “official” acts, you bet your ass that one side is going to be perfectly happy to “officially” let trump shoot someone on 5th avenue.

This strips trump and those like him of the merest inconvenience of facing charges when they leave office. If they leave office.

It’s potentially disastrous on multiple levels.

Most intrusive?

It think it’s probably a relatively common one: you’re at height, with access to the precipice, and your brain starts entertaining the possibility of jumping. Nothing compelling about it, in fact my rational brain always tells the stupid part “WTF, bro…” but nonetheless, the thought exists.

Occasional other random thoughts pop in to my head on rare occasion, but for some reason the “jump” one is the most common and the most irritating.

I don’t know that authoritarian/fascist regimes can be stopped once they’re in motion. They seem to be more the default rather than stable democracies. Even countries that you’d think would have sufficient legal barriers and processes for citizens to keep political extremists out of office seem to be failing and moving to the right.

Did my yearly testing for my job. Last year for some reason it went kinda rough, left feeling like I didn’t do as well as I should have even though I passed. Was kinda worried about this one. It went great. Pretty much nailed it all, learned some new things too. So headed back to work tomorrow feeling pretty good about some important skills.

Liberals completely drop their guard and the republicans put someone up who is actually smart but still follows the far right agenda. Trump is chaotic (inept) evil at best, but the danger is getting lawful intelligent evil in.

Biden was a sharp contrast to trump regarding the law before the SCOTUS ruling, too.

Some say we must learn to curb our obsession with growth, to become less consumer-obsessed, to learn to manage with a smaller population. That sounds very attractive. But who will buy the stuff you sell? Who will pay for your healthcare and pension when you get old?

What age group tends to be the biggest voting bloc, the most xenophobic, the most nationalistic…? Old people. Get those foreign people off my lawn, keep those foreign drug dealers, thieves, and layabouts out of my country.

Then there’s exploitation of foreign labor to undercut wages and work rules of citizens of the country the labor is being imported into.

I’m sure there’s more, but basically it’s a hefty dose of xeonphobia and nationalism along with groups not wanting to literally lose jobs to someone who will do it for a lot less.

Well it suits a narrative when there are crime and poverty issues to be exploited for publicity and political gain.

TBH because of his physical presentation at the debate. Yeah, it’s short-sighted, but welcome to the public thought process. Whatever is churned thru the latest 15 minute media cycle seems to be what they believe.

Doesn’t matter if he had a cold and was dosed up on NyQuil or whatever; his voice was weak, he stumbled over making coherent sentence multiple times, and he just had a blank, open-mouthed stare when between questions. I’ve had shitty colds and been drugged up with cold meds and I know that feel of being sore, exhausted, hoarse, and disconnected. You just want to go have a lie-down, not a public debate against a raging, insulting, narcissistic asshole. But it takes someone willing to understand all that and give Biden the benefit of the doubt.

There are far too many that start from the “old” part and just attribute everything possible to that which they find disagreeable.

I’ll also offer the “sameness” of everything at malls. Let’s say you want jeans. There’s five shops that carry jeans. You want “normal” jeans, iow, not torn, not bleached, etc. Each shop carries jeans, but they are all some version of torn, worn, bleached, etc. For all the variety, they’re all the same.

Plus, mall overhead and branding makes the shops quite often more expensive than you might find at something like a Target or even a Kohls.

I’ve found that taking my kids to the mall to check out clothing we more often than not buy nothing despite visiting a half dozen shops. It’s all variations of the same thing along with being designer pricing.

If you watch the Canadian version it didn’t have a laugh track. IMO a much better presentation of the show.

Yeah, asd/adhd does that to you when you see how other people function “normally” and how your hangups are wildly more uncontrollable over trivial things. Then you get the adhd on top of that. Focus is a highly ambivalent and fickle creature. Good times. The brain being the reality we each experience, I think people with neurodivergence actually do experience a different reality than normative people do.

I don’t know that this is the case. It’s roughly like 33% of the people say the judges are too liberal because they’re liberal, another 33% say the judges are to conservatives because they’re conservatives, and another 33% don’t have a clue. That ~66% of conservative + liberal aggregated are the 7/10. I wouldn’t call it woke, I would call it opposing opinions on what side the judges are one and the perspective of the respondent.
