Twitter is where it started.
And every ‘hip’ person started talking about sliding into someone’s DM and it became the default application.
PM is still used in professional settings sometimes.

Well. Shit.
Hope the .world is safe for now. Since you know… It’s the world.
What happened to lemmy.fmhy.ml?
I work for an outsourced company representing a large search engine brand. The largest.
I am not on the tech end though. I handle partner relationships. Aka I am the company rep from a tech jugganaut, to people way more tech saavy than me.
I spend my days hoping I don’t get caught out.
They are the biggest, so the target is larger or at least more well known.
Is there a hydrohomies community here?
2 liters…
Will take me a week to get through that.
Same here.
I have one on Kbin too.
I remember around 2010 when Nokia smartphones were really good and could do much more than iPhones, but the marketing had already taken hold. Anything not iPhone was not considered a smartphone. Ironically.
It’s a good thing Andriod happened then.
Usb got big in like mid-00s.
We were still using CD players till 2005. I remember somewhere in '04 or '05 when 128mb mp3 players went rampant.
The new one is are we defererating from Threads.
Not in ML of course, but the discussion goes on on other instances.
Person of Interest is amazing btw.
I need validation on this thread, but I dislike music when I work out. Even when I run.
For me that’s thinking time.
The only reason threads is this popular is because they have the marketing machine of Facebook and billions of dollars.
Plus they have monster hardware to support everything.
The fact that lemmy is where it is is already outstanding.
It was slow when I came in last month, but it has gotten to pretty high levels of interaction since.
We just need the niche stuff for us to customize and we will be good to go.
Tech giants fighting each other.
Interesting to see how they have all managed a system with each other that is so hard to switch around.
So you get fined if you don’t take one of the slightly more expensive plans if you are a freelanced individual?
What would be the difference in price? Just a ball park figure if you have it.
What about freelancers and people that don’t work traditional jobs?
Alright. I have a reason to use this now.
I feel like we are missing the most important context.
He basically lit the fire that started the whole debacle.
He is known for his investigative journalism as mentioned. And he is from the Youtube sphere like Linus and has done collaborations with him.
Steve however, turned his eye of Sauron on Linus this time and called out inaccuracies in his content due to a rush to meet timelines and a huge bungle on a small company’s proprietary item.
This caused Linus to react badly and the community was pissed. Mud slinging started and an ex-employee’s sudden revelation of the toxic culture of the workplace(still not verified), had started a massive shitshow.
