Scrip is kinda low key a thing again. My SO works for wawa and there is definitely some scrip vibe. They have a company store, a points reward system, they will put you through school if you take classes that benefit the Corp, and the only way to move up is to basically bootlick management at weird company festivals.

It all has this very dystopian vibe of “everything within the corporation eco system” and my SO is a very principled women who is shy and kind and she refuses to take a step to elevate herself within the Corp, but getting a union going is pretty hard where we’re at, everyone is very much of the boot tasting, welfare queen bad variety.

I’ve recently begun to dive into my own indoctrination, and it is quite wild how effective it has been.

I think if anything, capitalism goes against our nature. But also, tbf, it’s worth pointing out, and I only have an anecdote for you, that people do seem to behave differently in large groups compared to smaller, where the larger group tends to lend itself to our worse nature, but even that can be atributed to external forces in some regards.

i’ve just began to dig into theory… Peeling layers of capitalist suffering complex off in the process.

Tbh I don’t know. Communism feels like our natural state, and getting back there is going to be extremely hard with the hole we’ve dug for ourselves.

In my recent dive into the literature, I’ve found that I’m a pretty extreme leftist… But growing up in a capitalist society ive learned to shun people, avoid at all costs, and I’ve become basically a hermit, denouncing all forms of govt as futile, especially given our current circumstances as a species.

Sorry for the rant. I’m still eating my shell.

I’m not really too educated on theory, but this seems disingenuous. Yes it has failed, and so has our current capitalism, ime.

I think in USA, we have a unique situation to give it another spin, and for it to be successful.

The only way to reign in the runaway greed train is to introduce some type of socialism, and that is a natural progression en route to “true” communism. Which, imo, is going to take a very long time, realistically.

  • The latest anime that wowed me was to your Eternity, especially if your into Eastern philosophy and stuff.

Hells paradise also wowed me as a straight battle Shonen that is quite beautiful, with lots of spiritual themes.

One Piece holds a special place in my heart. Watch up until time skip, then read manga.

Vinland Saga is amazing. Straight up. Great study of politics and humans search for power and inner peace.

For the record I consider HxH and FMA:b to be Shonen high water marks.

Milk as a food item would be fine if it wasn’t for our ridiculous population, where the only way to get it to the masses is through fkd up farming practices. Alcohol is also not safe from the same type of criticism. It takes water to grow the plants to make the alcohol. Water that is not renewable. Not to mention it is highly addictive and can cause death from ocerconsumption, doing dumb shit while drunk or while detoxing. Is that worth the resources that go into it? I dunno.

Tbh. I think we’re damned if we do damned if we don’t in almost every sense as a species. I try not to be a doomer, but damn do I hate people FTMP.

  • The classic ones are still good, happy Gilmore, water boy, Billy madison, I mean come on. That’s nostalgic stuff right there.

I’m probobly more of an art snob than your average person, but I can still consume those movies for sure.

I’ve never seen uncut gems though. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.

  • Something needs to die for you to survive, what and how much is up to your individual tolerance for input/output ratio.

Death and suffering is a natural state of being in nature. I can reduce it, but I still need to survive.

I hate fishing. I don’t need to fish in my current station. If I did, I would fish.
