In theory my dialog choices are better and more plentiful, but in practice that timer is real short and so my answer is to always stall, “Um… hmm.” Telltale hard mode out here

If full time Walmart employees need government assistance programs to afford food and pay their rent, is it not Walmart who is leaning on government assistance?

Lasherz@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If death wasn't a thing what would be the most unforgivable crime?12·3 days agoUnforgiveable implies that there can be no mistake about the negative side effects for even the dumbest among us before committing the act. Torture is about as intentionally cruel as it gets.
Some other suggestions here are frequently used under the umbrella of torture, for example, by the IDF.
Truly, this is the most relatable sisyphean trial of modernity.

A Tesla would turn off autopilot and roll to it’s own death if it thought a person couldn’t survive the crash and needed to absolve itself for crash scene investigators.

Lasherz@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If there was about to be a long term internet outage and you have limited storage, is it better store fewer Movies and TV shows in high resolution, or store more of them but in lower resolution?7·8 days agoI agree with people saying at least 1080p but more. Upscaling is quite good now and makes little difference for the enjoyment of a film whether you can read the newspaper on the desk in the corner… Unless you’re a film buff who likes Easter eggs maybe

Lasherz@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can iPhones receive files via Bluetooth?4·17 days agoIn my line of work, if third party is free and works just fine with no downsides we don’t continue pursuing a better option or we’d go insane.
Lasherz@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can iPhones receive files via Bluetooth?3·17 days agoAt work we do a lot of transfers between android and iPhone and vice versa. We use Verizon Content Transfer installed on both phones because it plays nice between brands and offers bluetooth/wifi transfer reliably. Verizon affiliation not required.

Lasherz@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•In your opinion, when does something become unforgivable?4·26 days agoForgiveness is always possible, although if someone hits me with DARVO, I’m going to forever filter their behavior through a check before helping them. It’s sorta amazing what we can go through and forgive after, but I guess the misnomer is that the apology is for them and not ourselves.
I don’t consider it Art, but the specific reason I hate it is because it is meant to be an illusion of something that it’s not, and it’s crafted that illusion off the blood sweat and tears of people whom it treats as a line item in a database by people who don’t respect it. It is fundamentally a bastardizarion of the creative soul and rather purposefully at that.
I mean, every highly contrasted media we’ve ever watched, just about, is about someone with a modicum of empathy struggling against a fascist with no empathy to their cause, and what is more fascist than diminishing or dilluting the perceived value of art to the public? Art is the only language allowed to those who are repressed.

I don’t consider them to be even close. M3 is 190 cinebench points per watt whereas Ryzen 7 7840U is 100. My ppw data doesn’t contain snapdragon x yet, but it’s generally considered to be a multithreading king on the market and it runs as signifcantly lower tdp than AMD. SoCs are inherently more energy efficient. My memory of why is the instruction sets on x86 allow for more complicated process but ARM is hard restricted to using less complicated processes as building blocks if complexity is required.
Like I mentioned though, there are tasks that x86 cannot be beat on but it’s because they use ASICs on-chip for hardware accelerated encoding/decoding and nothing is more efficient at a task than a (purpose-built, task specific*) ASIC /FPGA.
Lasherz@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if Apple / other brands sold desktop chips?3·29 days agoDell is already releasing Qualcomm SoC Latitudes. There are bound to be compatibility issues, but performance wise it’s kinda undeniable that this is where the market is going. It is far more energy efficient than an Intel or AMD x86 CPU and holds up just fine. The main downsides you’ll see could likely be resolved with ASICs, which is how Intel keeps 4k video from being choppy on low end APUs for example. Compared to M4, Qualcomm’s offering is slightly better at multithreaded performance and slightly worse at single thread. The real downside to them is really the reliance on raw throughput for tasks that both brands of CPUs have purpose built daughter chips for.
