Unfortunately you are right on this one. They couldn’t even get Equal Rights Ammendment passed and it was proposed in 1923. It got tossed around and talked about and got close to being ratified over the past century but ultimately didnt make it through.
Then in 2019 Alabama, Louisiana and South Dakota actually sued to prevent ERA from bring ratified when it was brought up again. That’s how much some states hate progress.
It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out though. Will they kill it immediately or will it sit around in limbo for a century?
I agree on this one.
The Supreme Court is clearly compromised and needs to be thoroughly investigated for corruption and have their recent, self interest driven rulings revoked.
It’d be a super presidential act that’d definitely benefit all of us. Guess they can’t charge him for breaking the rules to fix this cluster fuck.
I just wanted to add that I’m pretty sure Trump is jealous that Putin has something that he doesn’t… owning an entire country.
He wants to be like Putin and Kim Jong Un and is playing some warped version of “keeping up with the Joneses” to the detriment of our entire country. It’s a disgusting display of self absorption I never thought possible.
That’s literally it. He’s going to try to become a dictator so he can boost his fucking ego and not be ‘outdone’ by someone else.
The Supreme Court members who outed themselves as pro-corruption need to be given the 'Vote of No Confidence" treatment. Not just Kavanaugh, Alito, and Thomas, also remove the ones who quietly voted for post action bribes to be legal.
You are definitely right that this is a manipulative move on Trump’s part to make Biden look bad and get out if this debate.
But aren’t most people in their 80’s on a bunch of drugs anyway? Like blood pressure pills, cholesterol medicine, diuretics, arthritis medication etc? I’m not trying to stereotype older folks, but every person I’ve met over 60 seems to take a lot of pills… that help them live and perform actions they couldn’t otherwise.
Have you seen people coal rolling? I see it all the time. I get the feeling they love oil companies. People who buy huge, gas guzzling SUVs and oversized trucks they dont need dont seem to have an issue with them.
Also governments are made up of people… often elected officials that were VOTED for. I’m not saying everyone loves oil companies. But they convince enough people to like them enough to keep making money.
And that lobbying I mentioned earlier? Yeah, that’s what keeps the rest of us locked into using their products whether we want to or not. They convinced someone, somewhere to stifle competition like EVs.
Republicans need people to stop making art because they want everyone to be dependent on low wage jobs at chain stores.
If you can support yourself in a way that isn’t lining the pockets of the ultra wealthy you’re “hurting america” or some bullshit like that.
They convince people we need their product despite the damage they cause. They still get investors and convince them their company is profitable. They spend billions of dollars lobbying against alternative energy sources like solar, nuclear, and wind… convincing people they aren’t as viable as oil…when some already are and others could be with more R&D.
They convince governments to allow for more oil drilling sites, despite the environmental risks.
They do A LOT convincing all the time.
But you asked how pissing people off has ever convinced anyone of anything. Oil companies successfully do it all the time. Or any muilti billion dollar industry really.
I’m fully aware that money is the difference, and that’s exactly why we shouldn’t be shitting on the protesters.
We should be asking ourselves why it makes us so angry when protesters cause “damage” but dont have the same reaction to oil companies causing way more damage for profit. Human psychology is interesting.
I don’t know… oil companies piss off lots of people when they cause oil spills…and yet they’re rolling in profits day in and day out.
Maybe these protesters are trying imitate how oil companies behave since its works so well for them?
Damage the environment and make money if your an oil CEO. Temporarily color stone henge with zero damage and everyone loses their minds. Kinda backwards if you ask me.

They should have it written in gaelic since the first woman hung for witchcraft in the United States was an Irish servant who didn’t speak English very well.
Apparently being unable to say the Lords Prayer in English is proof you’re a witch… so they killed her.
It’s a phenomenon that’s been observed across multiple sports, not just between men and women chess players. It’s particularly poignant in men vs women’s chess… because of people repeatedly telling women they are inherently worse than men. Like you are doing right now.
There’s been multiple studies on this. So yes, I side with the data that stereotype threat phenomenon has a significant impact on women’s performance in chess against men.
The chess one isnt quite right. There’s been experiments where if a woman player didn’t know her opponent was a man she would perform better. It’s called stereotype threat phenomenon.
It also happens when a male player knowingly goes up against someone higher in the league than himself and he performs below his own standard average.
Basically people in general psyche themselves out of their best performance when going against someone they perceive to be better than them whether that’s factual or not. Confidence and undermining confidence can change a whole lot about how a person does in any given game or task.
The Castrati League has entered the stadium!
I know… i know…castrato were young boys castrated to keep their singing voices high… . but words can be updated and language fluid… right?
If there ARE more cases of autism(which we dont know if there are, or if it’s a result of better screening. Smarter people than me would have to determine that) my first instinct would be to look at microplastics and other environmental pollutants. Again, more qualified people than me would have to look into that, but it seems to be a better hypothesis than the conspiracy theory about vaccines.
Trump seems to bring out the worst in everyone.
Unfortunately it’s incredibly difficult to get people to leave cults.
Voting for him is voting against your own self interest… it’s like some oddly bastardized form of the Heaven’s Gate mass suicide, but slower and more political.
Now that I think about it…That comparison does feel insulting to Heavens Gate. Their leader believed in what he was preaching and he actually seemed more competent and less malicious since he killed himself too. So I guess a cult that performs a mass suicide is less harmful than trump at this point. I hate this reality so much.
That guy is a troll, and he’s not even good at it. The faux high road crap is giving him away.
