Don’t try to learn it all and become an expert in 5 minutes. I wanted to learn programming, and tried the free developer stuff online, but gave up because it’s boring. Later, I came back to the stuff I enjoyed about programming and enjoy it.

Don’t try to lie to your students about how much you know. They can tell, and you will feel fake. The wonder of, “I don’t know the answer, let’s find out together.” and “Here’s the answer, and that’s how it fits with this. Isn’t that crazy!!!” is so engaging and not only increases student engagement, but also your knowledge and gives you a fun teaching story about how you found out.

Whatever the goal, if you don’t have a reason to keep learning, you will stop.

Your reply is disingenuous at best here.

1. Trans people are a minority. Despite the public media attention currently, there just are not that many trans people.
2. The minority status, as in literally not many people existing as in other groups, means trans people automatically feel more isolated, even in welcoming communities, because there are not many other trans people.
3. Losing a large community where it is easy to connect, relate, and catch up with other people like you is awful. Just look at how many of us are here from reddit, and imagine if it were the 80s and all our parents were still anrgy at us for “Being on that %@#$ computer again! It’s just a fad anyway!” Now think of that, but it’s not just a hobby or a career path, it’s who you are.

Endless monologues and dialogue-dependent quests. Tell me what to do once, then be happily surprised when it’s done. I don’t need to know why it’s important to uncle Sandy to find the green gate key, he can say “Thanks!” later if I want to talk to him at all.

I think it would be worth listing the projects, even if not the instances. I’m still new to all the federation stuff, but my account is through kbin and I’m loving the low-key, small community feel with the freedom to go anywhere and interact across projects seamlessly.
