Thanks! Bebop’s one of my favorite shows, and I love the jazz aesthetic so that’s a huge compliment, I appreciate it!
Actually this was taken pretty late at the University Plaza Hotel in Springfield, MO. It looks a bit less liminal and backroomy during the day but with the lights lowered and no one around it looks really cool, this was around 11pm or so I think.
Not at the moment, or if I do the account is so old I don’t remember it lol
Oh wow, thanks! I’m glad you like the photo, It’s actually my home screen at the moment as well! Lol
This was at a Price Chopper in western central MO
Price Chopper actually
I went to get chicken for some meal prep a couple of days ago (Missouri, US) and a 1lb container of just chicken breast tenders costs $13, I figured it was a “labor” cost for cutting the tenders off before the customer buys it, like how a container of diced onion costs an order of magnitude higher than just buying a whole onion, but nope, the pack of 2 breasts right next to it cost basically the same, maybe only 50 cents cheaper, and I wasn’t in anything expensive like a whole foods, just a generic lowcost midwest regional store. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention 2 orange or red bell peppers costs $5…
Oh no I totally get that! I just meant when I’m going for an older feeling photo with a bit of nostalgia factor to it I’ve found that using real film gets the look that I’m going for better, I should’ve been more specific. It’s all subjective really but I’ve also taken thousands of photos on different digital cameras and smartphones as well, they’re objectively cheaper and more convenient for sure, but I don’t think one is better or worse than the other.
I agree, I’ve previously dabbled around with adding grain digitally, if you look at my post history you’ll see a picture from Las Vegas a few years back that I went waaay overboard with unfortunately, though at the time I’d been using Lightroom for only about a week or so. I definitely have room to improve but I’ve found using real film and then adjusting colors, contrast, etc. In post results in a much nicer picture, albeit quite a lot more expensive to produce lol
Thanks! It was incredible in person, though a bit hazy due to the nearby wildfire smoke at the time this was taken in the summer of 2021. Made the farther reaches of the canyon hard to see, I think it’s actually a bit clearer in this photo than I remember it looking person.
I picked up photography back in May which just started by getting an old point and shoot digicam to take convincing liminal space photos, then I got another… then another… then some film old cameras, a cheap DSLR a set of lens, etc. Etc. It’s become a full on addiction at this point lol
I have to agree with this one. I got premium way back in 2015 when it first came out as youtube red, my reasoning at the time was since it came with Play Music, no ads on youtube videos, and at the time cost the same as a spotify subscription, I could have the same music library I was already paying for PLUS youtube without ads every 10 seconds and access to youtube red exclusive content, Mindfield by Vsauce and the Rooster Teeth movies at the time, I was getting more for the same 10 bucks. I was sad to see play music go but youtube music letting me add songs to my playlists from videos on youtube if the song itself isn’t directly in the streaming service is pretty cool and I’ve been grandfathered into the same price, so I still pay the same $10/mo now that I did 8 years ago. Only subscription I’ll ever actually tell anyone is worth getting over just using an adblocker instead.
Even I didn’t notice it until I read this and now my disappointment in my own work is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
