i’m sure my icon speaks for itself here, but i’ve definitely seen a few of you skittering about in some of our threads. show yourselves at once! maybe post your fursona even (if it’s safe for work)

Hello birb! My younger sister drew this for me for my birthday. Closest thing I have for a sona so I use it as my profile picture. My actual sona I’m dreaming up is anthro hawk, of course. I haven’t come out as a furry yet so she is probably the only person IRL who knows, or has a strong hunch. My affinity for birds of prey is already well known however.
I’ve had a cautionary interest in furries for a few years not knowing if I wanted to dive into it. Then last year I found the SlimeVR community, started playing VRChat, and immediately discovered how many of them are furries, and, how fun it is! Now I’m really interested in joining the broader furry community but anxious about it (the hawk’s expression is very fitting ngl).
Has a furry community on Beehaw been considered? I don’t know enough to decide if it is necessary or not based on the number of people here. I think Creative would suffice so long as those browsing there aren’t bothered by it. But I wonder if furries are already hesitant to post to general art places in case it isn’t received as well. I want to see all the furry OC’s and artwork people have to share here, but I also understand that turning half the posts on Creative into furry content could get annoying to those who don’t want to go there for that. Then maybe if they abandon it instead, Creative would turn into everything furry anyways. But I just don’t know if any of that is accurate! This requires discussion from people far more experienced than me.
I might join pawb.social too, but I like how with Beehaw the communities are organized on broad topics and not specific niches, and I seriously jive with the philosophy write-ups and community moderation.
