I don’t think it’s nihilism. I mean the idea of the extinction of my species makes me happy. That doesn’t sound like nihilism to me. I’m not sure if there’s a word for it though.
The word for this is “misanthropy.” In my opinion, it’s not a useful viewpoint to take even if you find yourself disenchanted with humanity’s current performance.
There’s a word for what would make you happy based on how it would happen: genocide.
No, that implies one people wiping out another people. I’m looking for an extinction of the entire species. Equal opportunity and all that.
When you wipe out your entire species because you are intentionally ignoring and even fanning the flames of a pandemic, that is genocide. It’s the largest possible genocide.

You know, I feel that sometimes too. Something that helps against it is a bit of hope.
When you need help and a stranger stops to help you, without being asked, and for no reward and not filming it for fake internet points. Reminds me that there are still good people in the world.

Maybe the assholes are a vocal minority? It’s hard to tell online, and when it seems like the whole world is bad, people behave badly to fit in.
