I sure do regret going on the internet today.
Fucked up headline out of India? Checks article Yep, UP. Dunno if that’s confirmation bias, or if the place really is that bad, though.
Idk if it’s still the case but there used to be a guy that would post here all the time about terrible stories coming out of there which lead to at least a little confirmation bias among people. Especially since it was during the great Reddit exit.
Yeah, he got banned for being racist. Which is weird, because I’m pretty sure he was Indian himself. Maybe just plain “bigoted” would be more accurate, because he also posted a lot of anti-Islamic stuff.
He also got banned from [email protected] for the reason “Probably the most violations I have ever seen”, which made me chuckle. It’s not wrong, though.
That’s incredible. I always did get a bad vibe from him even when he wasn’t being outright terrible
Yep, always UP or Bihar.
Ahh, like Florida and Texas here.
There are 240 million people there (almost double the next most populous state) and it is one of the poorest states in the country. So it’s not confirmation bias; just a whole lot of really fucking poor people who do not have great access to basic education.
God damn it, India. What the fuck?
I mean, this is one of those things that happens if you leave very young children completely unsupervised. It’s not all that uncommon in poorly run daycares.
I don’t know if calling an 11 year old a rapist makes a lot of sense. Kids don’t know what they’re doing at that age, and they will do weird shit if you don’t stop them.
EDIT: Downvote me all you want, I never said it was normal or okay, just that it happens under poor supervision.
11 and 6 is quite problematic, but if we are to expect that children this young are too immature to consent, it is insane to hold them to the same adult standard when they exhibit sexual misconduct.
Charging a preteen with rape is insane.
All too often it’s also kids repeating what they know, because they’ve been exposed to it, or experienced it themselves. It’s a fairly common sign of abuse.
Double the reason not to charge an 11 year old with rape…
The eternal optimist in me hopes that this is their way to get him into some form of therapy treatment. The cynic in me thinks that the frequency of that happening, however, is extremely low.
This is actually true. I know it happens. This is why sex ed should be taught as young as five.
Damn straight. When kids know about sex, they are less likely to explore sexuality with other kids, and adults have a much harder time grooming them. Kids are entitled to know about their bodies and the nature of their own existence, and generally they take it fine. Pretty normal in places that aren’t America to treat it as common knowledge.
- This is not Brave New World
- One of them is 11 and the other is 4. In what daycare are those kids together?
Sometimes after school, parents can’t get the children immediately, so they have to be kept together. It could happen then.
- Not even close to what I said.
- You’re right, children of different ages never mix ever, and my example was intended to be exclusive. /s
Come back when you have a good faith response.
Now this is pod racing
Well that’s fucked.
The victim was alone at her house.
Why. Wtf.
This is the thing that makes you realize you’ve been online way too long today
