German here. This is 99% sure fake news. German police is only able to even touch kids at that age to take them back to their parents. Kids up to 14 are executively immune from the law. The source is also kind of iffy. The right to protest is also enshrined in German law. As long as they are not violent they can protest all day long.

also german here. the demo i recently went to was cut short by police for no apparent reason.

also many others are being blocked by the cops before they get to happen.

this country is also raiding organizers homes and recently banned a group called “palästina solidarität duisburg” which organized protests as well.

and its all happening in the name of what they call “staatsräson” or some vague ideas of chants like “from the river to the sea, palestine will be free” being antisemitic.

lastly, the idea that cops give a shit abt following the law is ridiculous if u ask me

chants like “from the river to the sea, palestine will be free” being antisemitic.

Iirc this can fall under antisemitism as it impies the wish to “destroy” izzy. I don’t agree, but thats why.

Even though you’re right about a lot of this, checking news’ sources is always important, especially now.

I want to destroy the state of Israel. Just like my ancestors destroyed the Third Reich. Guess what, Third Reich was destroyed and the Germans didn’t go extinct. Likewise, Israel being destroyed will not mean any harm to the Jewish people.

If someone thinks Israel = Jews, they’re admitting it’s an ethnostate.

yea, im aware of the bullshit they make up so they can crack down on protests.

          doesnt make it true tho.

I’m just explaining how it may be looked at legally.
Germany has a couple of laws about these sort of statements for obvious reasons.

            I condemn Izzy’s actions.
I wish for Palestine to be internationally recognized and protected.

What you’re saying is absolute horseshit.

They banned many many protests in Germany (before they happened, at the permit phase). The excuse the authorities give is usually vague security concerns, and they always argue that something antisemitic or glorifying violence might be said. And they explictly define any fundamental critique of Israel as antisemitism and any positive mention or symbol of any armed resistance group as glorifying violence, but only for pro-Palestinian groups. You can show support for the IDF as much as you like, in fact providing not just symbolic support, but support in the form of actual lethal weapons is facilitated at the highest levels of the state. That is legal and encouraged. Saying “Palestine will be free.” gets you detained.

The person you replied to was solely writing about the treatment of young kids. So what you are writing is completely out of context, and, pardon me please, abdolute horseshit.

Check again what the parent poster said:

As long as they are not violent they can protest all day long.

Which is what I replied to, and which is clearly not true, they ban nonviolent protests all the time.

Tons. This on is from Oct 30 in The Nation:

The German state’s show of support has led to an outright banning of most pro-Palestine protests. […]

The reasons for the bans seemed unambiguous: German police said that there was an “imminent danger” that the assemblies will result in “inciting, anti-Semitic slogans,” as well as “glorification of violence.”

Preemptively. Because antisemitism and “glorification of violence” might occur. And by antisemitism they mean things like this:

On October 13, Berlin police declared uttering the slogan “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” forbidden and indictable. That same day, Berlin’s education senator, Katharina Günther-Wünsch, sent a letter to all Berlin school principals offering them the option to ban students from wearing “pro-Palestinian symbols such as the keffiyeh.” “Any act or expression of opinion that can be understood as advocacy or approval of the attacks against Israel,” she wrote, “constitutes a threat to school peace and is prohibited.”

At a demo some weeks ago in Berlin I definitely saw them chasing a kid that was 12 or younger, but luckily he was swift and disappeared into the crowd that was starting to surround and corner the police after they charged the crowd from the side into an otherwise completely relaxed demo. Obviously, the kid was arab.

Police in Germany is composed of pigs as much as any other police force.

Immigrant who lives in Germany here. This post is a bunch of lies. On this topic there are a lot of politically motivated astroturfers who take over whole comment sections to push their false narratives.

The police can shut down any protest, if it was not filed for in advance. Unless of course you protest with a tractor. The police is powerless against tractors. The hierarchy in Germany is therefore:

Tractor > Bureaucracy > Police > You and Me

You have to register at a certain expected size so police can have enough policemen on site to be able to keep public order. There are very few cases where these applications have been denied and with good reason. Demonstrations are only dissolved if they get too unruly and dangerous for the public.

Germany has no laws it has Zionism. Judges have ruled multiple actions from the German police illegal such as the banning of a speaker.
