If that were true: me creating a painting imitating the style of Keith Haring would be completely fine a computer creating an impressionist painting not specifically modeled after one artist would be theft In music, things are messy as well: a computer generating a 12-bar blues (a staple of blues music) is theft me creating a song that sounds like Imagine Dragons could have made it is perfectly fine
