I don’t care about Karma, but to see a 0 after spending an hour on something means that it will not get seen (when I thought people would enjoy it). So in a way it invalidates my effort, and causes me to reevaluate what people would like to see (and, it seems my content may not be it).

Why should their opinions on your content matter though? You gifted the world a meme, if they reject it thats their call. Who should be embarrassed, the person who gifts $100 or the person who rejects the $100 gift? You do you man

Might be an idea to make your lemmy home on an instance that doesn’t allow down votes (those exist). People on other servers might still downvote it, but you won’t notice.

In fact, I think I’ll go do that myself.

Don’t fret too much, plenty of people browse by new on lemmy. You can be sure several people actually saw your downvoted memes.

My dude, you have tons of upvotes. You’re doing great! Why so hard on yourself??

(I, for one, do like karma. And…you may want to sit down for this, folks…Lemmy has karma)

@MrMusAddict I get that. Aside from replies, boosts and upvotes are the only other way to tell someone walked by and thought “hey I like or dislike that”.
