Families of Israeli captives obstructed on Thursday the entry of humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for the second day in a row, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.

According to Haaretz, the families, along with right-wing activists, blocked the passage of aid trucks to Gaza through the Kerem Shalom (Karem Abu Salem) crossing.

Protesters reportedly closed the road to the crossing and prevented trucks loaded with humanitarian aid from passing.

“We are here today to show (Israeli) Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he can stop the trucks, just as we are stopping them now,” Dany Elgart, a brother of one of the captives, reportedly said, adding:

“I call on all citizens: come to the checkpoint and stop this humanitarian aid with your bodies. It is not humanitarian at all because it only serves one segment of the population there. The hostages there do not receive any humanitarian aid.”

The aid comes from abroad and is transported through Israel, which announced the closure of crossings to the Gaza Strip on October 7, according to Anadolu news agency.

On October 9, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced a “complete siege” of the Gaza Strip. “We are fighting human animals, and we are acting accordingly,” Gallant said.

This whole thing is so fucked up. I understand why those families are upset, but preventing other innocent people from getting medical help is just revenge for an act of revenge for an act of revenge for… oh.

They are okay that the IDF killed 3 captives waving flag, another in a tunnels, a few in bombing in gaza, and many other in cars going back to gaza with their captive, along with a few more cliamed to have been used as human shields.

But aid going to Gaza cannot happen.

It’s inhumane, but not sure I’m allowed to say that, I’ll be accused of you know what.

Both sides are inhumane. Granted, one of those sides has a big fucking military and the means to negotiate without bloodshed. But, apparently revenge is more fun.

No man, don’t both sides this. There is a clear and unequivocal genocide taking place as we speak, and those who are going to sit on the fence really need to look into their souls.

I get it if you don’t give a fuck. I get it if you want to wipe the rag heads from the face of the earth, but I will never understand the “both side-rs”

Both sides are inhumane radicals - that’s a fact.

What we shouldn’t forget is that one of them got radicalized by being placed in inhumane conditions, ghettoed, turned to second-class people and left to rot.

And the other is Israel, a country of radical immigrants that felt entitled to seed massacre on locals, put them in those conditions and got surprised they turned other side to be cruel. Wow, what a surprise.

Slight correction: the overwhelming majority of the Palestinians senselessly killed in this genocide are innocent civilians, many children. They aren’t inhumane radicals, they are purely victims of Israel’s genocide.

Same is true for civilian Israelis. It’s always vital to separate actions of government/military and not automatically expand them on general population, on either side.

People often ignore it, which leads to disastrous consequences. Thank you for highlighting it.

Not original commenter, but “inhumane” and “not human” are two different things.

Hamas is inhumane, they don’t treat Israeli people with respect and dignity, they don’t abide by wartime laws or anything, really. The important part, however, is how and why they rose to power, and it happened under immense pressure on people and treating them like animals (and also through some political manipulation, and, ironically, some of Netanyahu’s money)

Thereby the solution is not to treat people like animals and not trying to support radicals for your own political benefit.

Surprise surprise, no one ever seemed to tell that to Israeli officials.

Surprise surprise, no one ever seemed to tell that to Israeli officials.

Who currently have operated Gaza as an open air concentration camp and implemented a system of apartheid. Hamas in not “inhumane” they are a correct reaction to a population besieged by the world’s new Nazis backed by a capitalist world order.

Until Israel is wiped off the map, no one will be safe from their holocaust on the Palestinians.

Don’t coddle people, I condemn those who condemn Hamas.

I dont think its for revenge. The idea is to hold off all aid to pressure hammas to release the hostages. They will never release them as long as aid and food and medicine is going in.

Calling Palestinian civilians animals and refusing to allow them food and medical supplies isn’t going to improve the situation. What do you think is going to happen? Is Hamas going to say “oh guys, I think we made them mad this time. Better release the hostages so they don’t do anything violent!”?

The thought process is that hammas is the governing body of Gaza and is responsible for its civilians. It would be in his best interest and its civilians to just return the hostages. Otherwise how would you put pressure on hammas to give back the hostages?

What should be done in your opinion for hammas to return the hostages safely and alive?
