I know kbin doesn’t yet have the functionality, so I am asking, please, if you can, delete my account. I’m tired of waiting.

Did you already go to Settings and click the Request Account Deletion button? I would imagine that will be faster than a random post.

People ask questions about of simple curiosity, and all the posts in this thread are asking in a clearly genuine attempt to help you out with the currently available options since a deletion is apparently not available.

            Why so defensive?

Are you an admin? That whole thing was unnecessary and at worst unprofessional. If dude wants his acc deleted, he doesn’t need to be interrogated, especially publicly, on why he wants that. Whether he posts every 5 seconds or not does not matter in the slightest. His reasons are his own and none of our or your business. He wasn’t being defensive, he was maintaining his privacy and avoiding the public interrogation that came from a simple question. You chose to try to make his actions look contradictory rather than just doing the task, I’d be a bit salty if I were him, too.

Looks like he logged back in again after you deleted his account, which as we all know automatically un-deletes his account. I’ll delete his account again now, but he should probably stop logging in if he wants it to stay deleted.

What a curious person. Two months ago, you didn’t think you could ever use anything other than kbin. Now, you can’t wait for the account to be deleted.

Maybe I’m missing something, but why not just log out, move on, and let ernest get to it when he gets to it? Dude has a massive to-do list with this project, and a non-impactful account deletion for a single ex-user is, rightfully, not terribly high of a priority.

Practically speaking, what difference does it make versus just logging out and not using the account?

If my account is deleted, it’s done and over with.

And if you log out and walk away, it’s done and over with. I’m not seeing much of a case for it being all that different. You’re just choosing to stay any whine rather than leaving the account be.

Plus, I want to delete my posts.

Realistically, the nature of federation makes that practically impossible anyway. Even if deleted from kbin, your shitty posts have already been copied to all the federated instances.

Anyway, why do you care so much? Practically speaking, why does it matter to you personally whether my account is is deleted or whether I just stop posting but keep my account active? Why is it so important to you that I not be allowed to delete my account?

Because your pointless bitching shows up in my feed. To be clear, I don’t give a shit if your account gets created or not. But if you logged out and walked away, kbin would be a bit better for it. Hence, I’m encouraging you to do that.

Why do I have to be on trial for wanting to delete my account?

You’re not on trial; you’re being told how to effectively solve this situation yourself. You’re the one that posted this, knowing the vast majority of people who saw the post don’t have any more ability to delete the account than you do.

you all won’t even let me leave!

That you choose to get defensive and keep using the account is a choice you’re making, not something anyone’s forcing upon you.

kinda weird how you went through his account and linked a post like that? his reasoning isn’t relevant, it’s his choice and trying to make his choice seem contradictory for literally no reason is just…weird…

You should contact @ernest I think. He’s the admin of the instance. Though, I think he’s on a christmas break with his family right now, judging by his inactivity over the recent days and what he said in the last devlog.

If it’s just about preventing your access to your account though, I think setting a password that you don’t know would do the trick. Maybe set half of it yourself and have someone else contribute the other half, so neither of you knows the full password.

I do think you’re putting yourself down too much about the quality of your posts. Referencing a comment of yours here. I’ve looked a bit through your history and didn’t really see anything out of the ordinary.

And, when someone’s a shitty poster like me, don’t m people usually want those kinds of people to delete their accounts?

Not really. If the account is a problem for you, sure, get it deleted. But no one’s wishing for you to delete it.
