Just got down from the roof after removing my remaining solar panels to swap out washers that turned out to be too small to actually hold them to the Z brackets at highway speed. Lost three of 12 at some point last week. Eight are now back up, and the three replacements arrive tomorrow. Hopefully solar will be live and my belongings out of the warehouse I used to work at by the end of the week. Glacial progress with regressions seems to be November’s theme.

Had to have surgical intervention a few weeks ago and am getting mild pangs of renal colic pain on the other side. I’m drinking tons of water and crossing my fingers hard that these stones don’t require intervention 🤞

Other than that life feels like a mess right now and I’m trying to be more intentional about addressing things this week.

Anyone have good advice for making friends in one’s thirties? Online or IRL?

Assuming you’re cool with meeting up with strangers in person, meetup.com was a good way to find people of like minded hobbies (like board games). You’ll get a wide range of folks depending on the group itself but it can be helpful if you’re trying to “refill” your own social needs at least in the beginning and hopefully make some friends as a result. Helped me out of a rut when I found myself alone with no friends far from home!

If you have the time to devote to it, adult education/training courses/etc are a great way to meet adults with similar interests to yours. I’ve made some amazing friends that way over the last couple of years. While the majority of people you meet are “friends” only as long as the course lasts, and then kind of drift away, I’ve made several friends that I keep in contact with and meet up with for walks/shopping/days out/etc as often as our respective schedules allow.

Also, I hope the water helps and you feel better soon. :)

find a social hobby and stick with it. for me, that was group bike rides that turned into group bike camping rides. now a few of us are traveling across the country next summer to do RAGBRAI (7-day bike ride of 400-500 miles). 🥴

One of the cats spent the weekend going back and forth from the vets, having become very sick very quickly, and treating the symptoms hasn’t worked. Although she was a bit more alert this morning, I wasn’t completely happy with how little she was eating and drinking, so after attending a lecture at university that I really couldn’t miss, I left my group project teammates to their own devices for the afternoon and came home to look after her. Ended up taking the cat back to the vets to be admitted for 24 hours of intensive care and an ultrasound. Group project is probably on fire as I type. Finding it hard to care.

It’s so stressful when we don’t know what’s going on with our furry friends! I hope the vet finds an easy fix and your kitty is back to normal soon.

    Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Last weekend I built a new PC which I collected parts over 6 months when I could afford them, and today I replaced all my burnt out light bulbs! My room is a lot brighter now!

Got back from a pleasant trip to the in-laws, so that was nice. Going to start poking around the local SPCA for our next rescue pet in the coming weeks :)

I’m glad you seem to be recovering, Alyaza. I hope you can get some good rest and that you’re feeling a whole lot better soon. Those sinus infections can sure wipe you out! I feel for ya. Much love and internet hugs to you. 💖

Found out I didn’t get COVID from the boss last week… But sore from too not enough gym I think.

But kind of annoyed… Need to work out how to tell my housemate that if his girlfriend is Staying with us half the week, Has the door code and is here at times he’s not, its it’s fair for her to start paying some bills…

Especially considering he’s seemingly complaining about my new housemate needing to buy paper towels and such or “its not fair” (despite the fact we have solar, and he leaves his computer and fan and such on all night, even if he’s not even there). Also, when the other housemate accidentally broke his blender, he’s demanding payment, but when his dog chewed up and damaged my stuff, he just hid the damage…

He also once gave me a spiel that he was sick of people getting help from other people, and “some people were just here because they need somewhere to stay”. So doesn’t even feel like I should be giving him any length of string…

Just got back from my first ever date, holy shit what an experience. She was so cute and lovely, we held hands, hugged, kissed, there was some intimate touch from me to her, naturally all with her explicit consent. I can’t wait to see her again on Friday, so fucking excited and it’s only Monday still…

Oof, hope you get back to 100% soon, Alyaza.

And I’m in the same boat, since I finally got COVID. Only took almost 4yrs, but it finally happened. I guess being at the airports, on planes, at an F1 race, a casino, and at a family/ethnic community dinner, eventually put the odds in my “favor.” 2 different at-home tests confirmed it. I’m assuming this is a mild case since I’ve only had a low fever, sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, and some tiredness. Really no aches and pains. And coughing is barely in the picture. Glad I got my booster last month. I think one more day off and I should be good.

Booked my tickets to visit my family for Christmas. While I booked Delta going there, I booked Southwest coming back. I’m a little worried with the SW flight after their catastrophic meltdown last year that ruined my (and many others’) Christmas. I’ve flown them since, but hopefully they’re better prepared this year for the holiday season and any winter storms. Though since it’s for the flight back home, it’s not as big of a deal. I have plenty of vacation days and I WFH anyway. I’ll be OK if anything goes awry.

To those who celebrated last week, hope you all had a joyful Thanksgiving!

Got two more Unna’s boot (zinc oxide and calamine gauze bandage) applications and cooling my foot with frozen peas (recommended by the orthopedic doctor). X-Ray showed a small infection in the dorsum of the foot, and I got prescribed shoe inlays, which will be done on the 1st of December. Once I have those, I can finally get rid of the crutches.

My dancing class has to be canceled for obvious reasons, and our teacher said we can just start the advanced course over (we only had 2 of 8 lessons) next year, and if I can make it also come to the last class of the beginner course late December, just to get a bit back into dancing.

No exercise this year, and I’ll have to see how it goes next year. Fun.

family visit went well. my cousin’s older kid is an absolute lovely child. super chill and respectful and like a tiny adult at only age ten.

i got to take my niece shopping at the mall for her 13th birthday which was a treat.

i’m getting back into some kind of fitness routine which feels nice. finally over whatever lingering sickness had me coughing for 6-8 weeks.
