Don’t dox yourself. Try to limit your information to a Maidenhead locator or general area of at least a few kilometers in an urban area and a few dozen in rural areas.

I’m from South Hesse, in Germany. Some of the most regarded German comedians (yes, they exist) are from around here and we have a pretty diverse culture, both traditionally German and from immigrants.

So, where do you live and how is it?

North of England. I like it, I used to live in a city but recently moved out to a town which has much easier access to the countryside, and I prefer that a lot more. One thing I like about the new place is the diversity of food - There’s some great Indian, Turkish, and Polish restaurants in the area, even a Brazilian steakhouse.

A fellow Northerner! I’m the opposite, currently living in a small town surrounded by countryside and absolutely detest it and wish I could move back to the city, but alas. That said your post prompted me to look up where our nearest Brazilian steakhouse is and it’s actually not too far at all, so thanks for that haha.

East. Spent most of my adult life in Newcastle but husband is very attached to his hometown so now we’re down in Teesside. It’s pretty here, but I’m not really the outdoorsy type!

Haha wow, I’m actually from teesside. I moved further south (but still north Yorkshire) about five years ago though. Now if you’re in the country there’s a strong chance you’re not far away from my hometown. Miss the parmos all the time.

            Small world!

First day on Lemmy, already found a local! Sadly I’m vegetarian and the only place I knew of that did a veggie parmo shut down. On the hunt for a replacement if you have any tips lol

Sadly not, I actually tried eating a vegetarian diet the start of the year but it became flexitarian after a month. Parmos are one of the exceptions I allow myself when I’m back in teesside.

also my wife happens to be a cross stitcher too! She wants to know if you’ve been to any of the craft retreats in the area and if you’d recommend any?

I haven’t! I don’t drive which is the other reason it sucks not being in a city…but actually the only stitching group I even know of is up in Newcastle so if she has pointers to more local ones I am all ears! A friend of mine just started a knit and natter over in Guisborough if that counts for anything.

Also if it turns out I already know your wife from cross stitch Instagram or something I swear to god…

Aah I see, there’s a Facebook group called Yorkshire Stitching Retreats that she joined but she’s not been to any yet. Tickets sell out pretty fast unfortunately.

Really weird seeing Guisborough mentioned on the internet… it was only a couple of weeks ago I was there!
