It’s the weekend for me, and I’d just love some suggestions. Movies? TV shows? Coffee? Holiday destinations? Software? Apps? Books? Something new to make for dinner? Websites?

It’s up to you, but I’d love some (hopefully) random suggestions from all of you to look into something new!

Ethiopian food! If you’re lucky enough to have nearby access, go support your local restaurant and get yourself a vegetarian platter. You will NOT regret it.

If you don’t have access or are vegan, I’ve had good luck making it as well. Here are a few recipes to start:

    • Niter Kibbeh - this is the staple oil for many Ethiopian dishes. I use the same ingredients, but rather than go through all the toasting and steps, I just throw everything in the slow cooker on low for a few hours. Use this in recipes and drizzle a tiny bit over your finished dish just before serving.
    • Quick Injera - this is a serviceable approximation of the real deal with common household ingredients. If you haven’t had Ethiopian food before, this is basically a thin, lightly sour pancake, and your utensil you’ll scoop up your tasty stews with. It’s also the base (literally) of combination platters. I haven’t had the fortitude to order teff and try to make the real stuff yet. This recipe is nowhere near the taste, texture, or complexity of a proper injera, but it’s good enough that I’ve made it multiple times to help with cravings.
    • Kik Alicha - I love this recipe. It’s yellow split peas, which is one of my least favorite things in my pantry, and yet it ends up tasting incredible. I like how simple it is once you have the niter kibbeh as well. This recipe really shows off the niter kibbeh flavors. Don’t forget to drizzle some on just before serving.

Go to a Starbucks and ask if you can have an ice water. Don’t buy anything because f union busting.

But they all give out the ice water for free, no purchase necessary - they won’t even look at you funny or anything - and I swear it’s absurdly delicious ice water. Great for a walk on a hot day. Try it and see. :)

I just saw the movie Game Night, and immensely enjoyed it. A good non-raunchy comedy film. Phew it has been too long.

For the record: the same writer/director duo also just did the Dungeons and Dragons movie which is similarly a very, very good time.

Another tv show: The Bear. Haven’t finished the season yet but it’s quite refreshing in multiple ways.

In my opinion, I would start with Next Gen. Season 1 was a real piece of crap, but it quickly got better after that. Ive heard a lot of people argue that you should skip it, but Season 1 establishes a lot of important characters and concepts that come back frequently. Heres a list of episodes that I think you should watch from Season 1. All of these episodes are important for what they establish in the world, and cause a couple are actually pretty good. Also you shouldnt skip Season 1, cause its fun to see the growth. Episode 1: Encounter at Farpoint Episode 9: Hide and Q Episode 12: Datalore Episode 14: 11001001 Episode 19: Heart of Glory Episode 20: The Arsenal of Freedom Episode 21: Symbiosis Episode 22: Skin of Evil Episode 25: The Neutral Zone

Season 2 has a lot of good episodes and a lot of bad episodes, and Season 3 on out is some of the best television in history. And the best part is, cause its serialized tv if you dont like an episode just skip it! But you should probably watch these^^

The first thing I always suggest is my favorite band, so I guess I will here too!

Interpol! My introductory of my top favorite songs and songs that worked for getting people I know into the band.

Let’s start with the “worker” songs:

    Top 5 Personal Faves:

    1. Heinrich Maneuver

Possibly the first Interpol song I remember listening to. Upbeat and fun.

    1. Safe Without

Catchy and captures insanity pretty well. I can’t really help but to picture that spongebob scene in my mind. I don’t need it…

    1. All The Rage Back Home

A go to song that’s a party-er and emotional all at once.

    1. Pioneer to the Falls

Amazing surfer-esque aesthetic with powerful timing and lyrics.

    1. Untitled

My all time favorite song EVER. I have a deep personal connection with this one.

But really, you can’t really go wrong with them. It was hard to make a top 5.
