  • It depends on what’s on the drive. I have a large library of games stored on striped spinning rust. What it does is let me play very old games without downloading them every time. When one fails which isn’t very often, I just buy a new one, rebuild the array and download again. Usually I’m downloading the library cause I did something stupid and broke it.

Any data I value at all is at least in a redundant array and anything that I don’t want to ever lose is in a proper 3-2-1 solution. Keeps the costs down, cause I’d be sad if I lost my jellyfin stuff but screwed if I lost my pictures or tax stuff.

  • I can’t speak for Germany but my car insurance wouldn’t cover arson. It only covers liability, so if I cause damage or personal injury with my vehicle then my insurance kicks in and covers the other person’s damages. If I wreck my car in a single vehicle collision, a tree falls on it, or someone who doesn’t have insurance hits me then I get nothing. That is collision and/or comprehensive insurance that cover those situations respectively.

However I know that if I were to lease a vehicle, I would need to get comprehensive insurance as part of the lease agreement. These were probably leased so their insurance might cover it, definitely not all of those Tesla owners though.

  • The crazy half is in control right now and there’s not much we can realistically do.

That’s defeatist. There is a lot that can be done. You could pressure your representatives to gum up congress so much with filibusters, and unnecessary votes to slow down what Trump can actually get done. You could join the democratic party with others and start demanding that they change from within. You could support local or internet grassroots campaigns who resist Trump. If the only thing you’re going to do over the next four years is wait to vote Democrat again then there’s not much you’re realistically Willing to do.

  • You have a big heart, and that’s a good thing. I could not disagree with you more. ‘No man left behind’ is a noble code to live to but I think that following it to an absolute sense defeats it’s purpose. ‘No man left behind’ to me means anybody on my team is never alone. The key is they have to be on my team and in this case everyone who isn’t a nazi is on my team. Neo-nazis have made real threats against people who I’m on the same team with and I would be leaving them behind if I didn’t oppose neo-nazis. If it comes to it, yeah Nazi lives don’t matter.

I’m not saying hunt them down and kill them. I’m saying take the ones who have actually done terrible things, put them in prison. Tell them to either grow up and change, or stay behind bars until they’re so insignificant that there’s no need to hold them anymore or until they die naturally. Holding neo-nazis accountable shouldn’t be controversial. If that requires taking their life I won’t shed any tears, but that is absolutely a last resort.
